Esencia
Bay Area’s Finest Latin Jazz
About
On the scene these days is a group of San Francisco Bay Area musicos who have been performing to those aficionados who enjoy the harmony of jazz combined with the compelling rhythms of Afro-Carribean music.
Orquestra Esencia, originally conceived in the late 1970’s has appeared and reappeared over the last several decades as a part of the bay area music environment with much of its original membership still intact. In the interim (between then and now) these musicians have worked, evolved, absorbed and now have come together again. The current edition of the band is an energetic amalgam of seasoned ensemble work and improvisation, with a highly charged, thoroughly danceable, rhythm section.
The band will continue to perform in the greater Bay Area for all lovers of jazz and in particular for those who relish the fusion of jazz and Afro-Carribean.
